Navigating Complexity with Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

At Nomad Counselling and Wellness, we understand that navigating complexity in mental and behavioral health presentations can be challenging. That's why I have developed a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Skills Program to provide support and guidance to individuals who are facing difficulties in managing their emotions and behaviors.
This program, uniquely created over a decade ago for individual sessions, is designed to help individuals develop skills in the standard five essential DBT modules: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and taking effective committed action guided by your values. These skills are crucial in building resilience, managing stress, and improving relationships with oneself and others.
Mindfulness is at the core of our program, teaching individuals to be present in the moment and observe their thoughts and feelings without judgment. Distress tolerance skills help individuals cope with intense emotions and crises in healthier ways, reducing the urge to engage in harmful behaviors. Emotion regulation techniques help individuals identify and manage their emotions effectively, leading to a more stable mood and increased well-being. Interpersonal effectiveness skills focus on improving communication, setting boundaries, and building healthy relationships with others. The DBT Skills Program is based on a holistic approach, taking into account the unique needs and experiences of each individual. By incorporating a blend of evidence-based therapies and personalised interventions, this program's aim is to empower individuals to make positive changes in their lives and achieve lasting growth and self-development.
