Active Mindfulness Practice | 60-minutes
For my fellow 'doers' struggling to be still. Learn how to be mindfully present while being active.
Service Description
Active Mindfulness Practice - Redcliffe & Brisbane North Mindfulness for the Movers, the Doers, and the Restless Souls Not everyone finds calm in stillness. For some, being asked to “sit quietly and empty the mind” feels impossible - or even anxiety-provoking. If you’re someone whose body wants to move, whose thoughts stir quickly, or who feels more grounded while doing rather than sitting, you’re not alone. The Active Mindfulness Practice session at Nomad Counselling & Wellness offers a different path: a mindful experience designed specifically for the doers, the fidgeters, the fast-thinking minds, and the people who feel most present when their body is in motion. This 60-minute session is available in-person in Redcliffe and welcomes clients across Brisbane who are seeking a more embodied, dynamic approach to mindfulness. What Is Active Mindfulness? Mindfulness isn’t about forcing stillness - it’s about learning to return to the present moment, again and again, with kindness. Active Mindfulness integrates movement into that process. Instead of fighting your natural rhythm, we honour it. During this session, you’ll learn how to: - stay grounded while your body is moving - bring awareness to breath, sensation, and surroundings - calm your nervous system without needing silence or stillness - apply mindfulness skills during busy, stressful or chaotic moments - practise presence in the middle of life, not apart from it This approach is ideal for people who feel frustrated by traditional seated meditation or who thrive through experiential learning. Who This Practice Supports Active Mindfulness can be especially helpful for: - individuals with racing thoughts or anxiety - people who find traditional meditation difficult - ADHD or neurodivergent clients - high-energy, fast-paced personalities - those seeking grounding techniques they can use in everyday life - clients wanting a more embodied or nature-based therapy experience Mindfulness doesn’t have to look like silence. Sometimes it looks like walking, noticing, breathing, moving, and gently returning to presence. What to Expect in Your 60-Minute Session - a guided mindfulness walk (“come walk and do with me”) - awareness exercises using movement and sensation - grounding techniques that work during activity - brief psychoeducation to correct common mindfulness myths - reflective conversation to integrate what you experienced Your journey back to calm begins with the pace that feels right.
